The first upgrade to Joe Aillet happened in 1985 with the addition of a skybox. The stadium has continued to go through renovations ever since. In 1989, a press box and extra seats were added. In 2006, a new artificial turf field was installed. In 2005, the women#25;s soccer team also started calling the Joe Aillet Stadium their home field.
The Joe Aillet Stadium has been the home football field for Louisiana Tech for more than four decades. When the stadium first opened in 1968, it had a capacity of 23,000. It was named after Joe Aillet in 1972, a legendary coach of Louisiana Tech. Aillet was eventually inducted into the National Football Foundation College Football Hall of Fame.
