The Kimmel Center, Inc. formed in 1996 when the Philadelphia Orchestra#25;s plans to build a new home and the then-Mayor Edward G. Rendell#25;s plans to provide a venue for performing arts companies. Kimmel Center now houses two major venues: Verizon Hall, which is a 2,500-seat concert hall, and Perelman Theater, which is a 65-seat theater.
The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and the Academy of Music serves as home to eight Resident Company performing arts institutions. The Kimmel Center Box Office is open daily from 10:00 #19; 6:00pm and the Call Center is open daily from 9:00am #19; 8:00pm. All persons entering the theater, including babes in arms, must have a ticket.
