Merrill Auditorium was built in 1912 and was originally deemed City Hall Auditorium, seeing legendary performers like John Philip Sousa, Arthur Fielder, George Gershwin, Ray Charles and many more. Renovations happened in 1996 and now the auditorium seats 1900 and has over 130 events annually, from the Portland Symphony Orchesta to comedy hour and children#25;s programming.
PortTix is the leading distributor for Merrill Auditorium tickets and is open Monday through Saturday noon to 6pm. Doors open no less than thirty minutes before performance time. The auditorium is available for rent. The venue is accessible with wheelchair access, service animals, oversized seats and assisted listening. Cameras are not permitted inside the theatre. The venue is a smoke free building. All patrons regardless of age must have a ticket to enter. Children under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Outside food or beverage is not permitted. For Portland Symphony Orchestra and PCA Great Performances patrons must wear business attire (men signifies a coat and tie, ladies signifies dresses or pantsuits).
