Rynearson Stadium has a seating capacity of 30,200. There's also standing room available in the south end zone so that even larger crowds can be accommodated during games. The field is composed of AstroTurf, which was installed in 1998. Before that, the field was StadiaTurf, which was added in 1991, and natural grass before that.
Rynearson Stadium of Eastern Michigan University is named after Elton J. Rynearson, Sr., Eastern Michigan's football coach for 26 seasons. In a six-year period from 1925 to 1930, Rynearson's team won 40 games, tied two and lost four. His contributions to Rynearson Stadium's athletic history have made him a school legend.
