Located inside the Toledo Zoo Compound, it is just four miles south of downtown Toledo and first began operating in 1900 by the City of Toledo's Parks Board. By the early '80s the ownership was transferred to the non-profit organization Toledo Zoological Society. The annual event held at the Toledo Zoo Amphitheatre is the Summer Concert Series, with past guests including Crosby, Stills and Nash and John Legend and presented by LiveNation.
The box office for the Toledo Zoo Amphitheatre is located at the Toledo Sports Arena; the box office is open Monday through Saturday, 10am to 5:30pm. The ticket office for the amphitheatre is open the day of the event only. A concert ticket is good only for the specific event and not zoo entrance. Entering the zoo for concerts begins one hour prior to show time. All patrons, regardless of age, need a ticket unless otherwise noted. Cameras nor outside food or beverage are permitted inside the venue. The venue is smoke-free. Pets are not allowed on zoo grounds unless needed for assistance. Drinking straws, balloons, skateboards, roller skate shoes, radios or CD players are not permitted inside venue.
