There are a few things to keep in mind so everyone can have an enjoyable time.
- Avoid disruptive behavior including foul or abusive language.
- Consume alcohol responsibly.
- Sit in your seat, and show your ticket if requested.
- Do not fight, throw objects, or interfere with the game.
- Smoke only in designated areas.
- No obscene or indecent messages on signs or clothing
- Comply with venue staff.
Pick up will call tickets at the will call window up to 1.5 hours before the event begins. Bring your confirmation number and photo ID.
There are ATMs on the premises:
- Main Lobby Entrance on the north side
- Main Concourse, Sections 104 and 124
State, federal, and local alcohol laws are enforced. You'll need a valid government ID, and only 2 beverages may be served to each customer at a time.
Large bags, backpacks, and the like aren't allowed in. Small bags may be searched.
Personal photography is generally okay, but telephoto or zoom lenses aren't allowed, nor are video recorders, monopods and tripods, or flash equipment.
Children under 2 are allowed in without a ticket, but they'll need to sit on a parent's lap. Children-specific shows may have a different policy, so check beforehand.
There are many dining options at the venue.
Van Andel Arena is fully ADA-compliant, and strives to help guests with special needs. Prior the event, contact the ADA Coordinator at 616.742.6600.
Parking
Access disabled parking on the southwest side of the arena, near the Suite Entrance located between Grandville Ave. and Ottawa Ave. There's additional parking in other lots nearby.
Access
There are automatic doors for easy access, and all counters, concessions, and water fountains are accessible. All reachable signs have Braille lettering.
There is an escalator in the Main Lobby, and elevators in the Main Lobby, near the Employee Entrance, and inside the Suite Entrance.
Ticketing and Seating
To purchase accessible seating, simply call the box office at 616.742.6600 and specify your needs. Accessible seating is available throughout the arena.
There are complimentary wheelchair escorts when requested. They are available at any entry point, or advance arrangements can be made.
For guests wishing to transfer out of their own wheelchair, staff can store your wheelchair after assisting you to your seat, and return your wheelchair after the event is over.
Visibility and Hearing Impairments
For guests with visual impairments, seating is available.
ALDs are available on the premises, and for select events, interpretation services are available. There is a TDD phone on the premises.
There are EMTs on hand for every event. Contact guest services, or go to the guest services booth behind Section 104.
Outside food and beverage is prohibited, as are glass bottles, metal cans, and large coolers.
Generally, doors open 1 hour prior the start of the event.
Guest services can provide information about the event, answer questions, address concerns, and provide assistance to the disabled. It's located on the Main Concourse behind Section 104.
Lost and found items can be retrieved at the guest services booth on the main concourse. After the event, call Van Andel Arena Security at 616.742.6170.
There are a few things it's best to leave at home:
- Weapons
- Outside food and beverage
- Cans or bottles
- Large bags including backpacks and suitcases
- Professional camera equipment, recording devices
- Fireworks, noisemaking devices, flashlights
- Skateboards and rollerblades
- Beach balls
- Signs, flags, banners, posters, and pamphlets
There's generally no re-entry. In case of an emergency, contact guest services.
Find family restrooms in 4 locations on the Terrace Level.
Small signs, flags, and banners are okay so long as they adhere to the following guidelines:
- Keep it related to the event.
- Don't attach it to stick or pole.
- Advertiser's signage cannot be obscured.
- Signs can't be hung on the building.
- No obscene or offensive language or pictures
- Don't obstruct the view of other guests or create a safety hazard.
There's no smoking outside of the designated area on the Front Plaza outside the main entrance on the building's north end.
The box office is generally open Monday - Friday from 10:00 a.m - 6:00 p.m. Eastern time, and on the day of the event.
