Usually, red-shirt freshmen aren't supposed to have all that much of an impact, but Vick was a bit different. In the 1999-2000 season, Vick was the Big East Offensive Player of the Year and the Big East Rookie of the Year, leading the Hokies all the way to the Sugar Bowl, though they would lose a tough one to the Florida State Seminoles.
