Growing up in the East Oak Lane neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Vivian Green knew that music would always be a big part of her life. She began singing, playing the piano and songwriting when she was just a child, and was even part of an all female quintet called Younique when she was just 13-years-old. And her song writing skills earned her credit for the song "Dear God" on Boyz II Men's multi-platinum album Evolution. But it wasn't until she was 19 that Vivian Green received her big break when she became a backup singer for chart-topping artist Jill Scott who took her on an international tour. After showing off her skills on tour, Green was signed to her own record deal with Columbia Records. She released her debut album Love Story in 2002, which featured her single "Emotional Rollercoaster" that hit No. 1 on the US charts. That same year, Green portrayed Billy Holliday in the Cole Porter biopic De-Lovely, which was Oscar-nominated and highly acclaimed. Two years later, Green portrayed another singing sensation from yesteryear, portraying Brenda Holloway on the hit TV series "American Dreams." Green went on to record three more albums, that including singles that debuted on the Hot 100 and the Hot R&B charts. She's collaborated with Guru in 2007 on the album Jazzmatazz, and got producing help from Keyshia Cole, Rihanna and Wyclef Jean for her third, more organic album.
