Von Braun Center Arena

Von Braun Center Arena

The Von Braun Center Arena is one of the most exciting multi-purpose entertainment venues in the country. It was first built in the late 1970s and was the place to see concerts, sporting events and live events in the Huntsville area. The center opened in the mid-1970s, and was the site of many historic performances including an appearance by Elvis Presley in 1975. The King played five consecutive concerts that year, which he'd never done outside of Las Vegas.

The center is compromised of multiple entertainment facilities that allow patrons to see a variety of live events throughout the complex. There is the South Hall, which is a state-of-the-art 100,000 square-foot building that is column-free and includes its own 50-space covered parking garage and a 20,000 square-foot lobby. The complex also includes a North Hall and East Hall that can accommodate more than 2,300 visitors each. There are plethora of meeting spaces and ballrooms, but the biggest attraction to the complex is the Von Braun Center. It was built to accommodate a variety of live events including concerts, major sporting events, Broadway shows, ballets, symphonies and much more. The center can accommodate more than 10,000 cheering fans, more than 2,000 in the Concert Hall and more than 500 in the Playhouse Theatre. Today, the center remains a crown jewel of downtown Huntsville, and continues to showcase the talent of local artists and professional performers.

Events Hosted

There is a lot to love about the Von Braun Center Arena. Not only is it one of the most beautiful live event centers in the country, but it also hosts some of the most exciting live performances around. In its early days it was the site for some of the era's biggest musical performances. Elvis Presley performed an unprecedented five-night concert series at the arena in 1975. This live performance put the Von Braun Center Arena on the map. Music fans began flocking to the Huntsville events center to catch a glimpse of the next big star on the ticket.

Today, the theater hosts everything from rock concerts to Broadway tours. Theater-goers can get all of the culture of New York, Chicago and Los Angeles right in their own backyard. They can tap their feet to the sounds of John Fogerty or spend an evening with Christian rapper Toby Mac. There's something for everyone at this one-of-a-kind venue. And if concerts aren't your thing, then the arena has you covered. You can catch a professional hockey game when the Huntsville Havoc takes the ice or cheer on the University of Alabama-Huntsville Chargers hockey team when they take on one of their fiercest competitors. Both teams are at the top of the rankings, and every matchup is a nail-biter.

Home City

The Von Braun Center Arena is located in Huntsville, Alabama, which is often called "Rocket City" because it is home to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Marshall Space Flight Center. In fact, the space theme even carried over into the names of Huntsville buildings. The Von Braun Center is named for Dr. Wernher von Braun, who was a former German rocket scientist. He helped establish the space program in the United States after relocating to the United States after World War II. Von Braun helped create the program with other scientists at the Redstone Arsenal, which is also located in Huntsville. The city, that is located in the hills of North Alabama, is the fourth-largest city Alabama. It offers visitors a hometown feel, while offering art and culture that is unsurpassed by other cities around the country. Whether you're hoping to catch a Broadway show, explore a museum or tour a local brewery, you will find what you are looking for in Huntsville, Alabama!

Seating Layout

The Von Braun Center Arena was built in the shape of a circle, and offers many different seating arrangements and configurations. It all depends on the type of entertainment you are enjoying. For concerts, the stage is placed to the far right of the arena with seats fanning out in all directions. Each section has four layers, including a floor level. For hockey games, the ice is located in the middle of the arena with fans surrounding all sides of the rink. In this configuration, there three sections on each side of the arena. And if you're visiting the arena to catch a wrestling match, you will be able to see the center ring from every angle. During wrestling matches, the ring is located in the middle of the floor, with seats on all sides. Although some seats are closer than others, every seat in the house will give you a fantastic view of the show you have chosen to see.

The Von Braun Center Arena has always been at the forefront of technology and modern practices, and in 2008, the arena began a green initiative to become more aware of the facility's environmental impact. They began working to increase energy efficiency, conserve water and increase recycling efforts. They did this by using LED and compact fluorescent lighting when possible, set a goal of becoming a "Zero Landfill Facility," and began using compostable food and beverage containers.
