In the wake of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the annual Voodoo Music Experience had
to be relocated to Memphis, Tennessee. However, the festival's founder, Stephen Rehage, organized something special for the
city. He moved one day of the festival back to New Orleans as a tribute to the rescue and relief workers. On October 29, 2005,
the Voodoo Fest opened its doors for firefighters, police, military, National Guard, and aid workers who had helped in the
recover efforts, and they enjoyed an entire day filled with fantastic musical performances.
