Colyn Cameron grew up in Southern California, and spent his youth immersed in the hip hop culture, writing his own raps and performing them for his classmates in high school. But when he picked up a guitar a few years later, he was amazed at the songs that came pouring out of him. He was no longer a rapper, he was a songwriter, and he began creating beautiful melodies and catchy tunes. After graduating from high school, Cameron attended Emerson College in England, studying agriculture. While on the road, working for various farms, Cameron found inspiration for a number of songs. When he returned to Vancouver, where he had been living, he spent some time trying out his musical skills in other bands. After getting the feel for the music world, he started his own band with Aiden Brant-Briscall, Josh Daignault and Andy Shauf, and began recording their first EP, Wild Country.
