Warren Haynes Background
Warren Haynes was born and raised in Asheville,
North Carolina, where he started playing the guitar when he was 12. When he first started to play the guitar, he worked off
of influences like Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton, and eventually discovered blues music, which helped shape his rocker blues
style on the guitar. In 1980, Warren Haynes joined David Allan Coe's touring band when he was just 20 years old. He toured
with Coe for the next four years, performing in front of sold out crowds all over the country.
In 1989, The Allman Brother's
Band reunited, and Haynes was invited to join the band. After years of touring and recording with The Allman Brothers, Haynes
became a full-time member of the iconic Southern rock outfit. Not only was he integral to the band for his impressive guitar
playing skills, but also because he was a skilled songwriter. Haynes co-wrote Greg Allman's song "Just Before the Bullets
Fly", as well as several other songs for the Allman Brothers Band.
While Haynes first became a well known guitarist
for his work with the Allman Brothers, he is also known for his work in bands like Gov't Mule and The Dead. He formed Gov't
Mule in 1994, initially splitting his time between Gov't Mule and The Allman Brothers Band, reuniting every once in a while
for tours. Haynes also toured and recorded with several members of the Grateful Dead in the '90s, and even played with The
Dead during a performance for a Penn State benefit, where one of the audience members happened to be President Barack Obama.
