Dyer began performing in talent shows while he was in high school, honing his skills as a performer and fine-tuning his songwriting. In October of that year, the song hit No. 1 on the Jamaican reggae charts and was ranked in the Top 30 New York Reggae Singles charts. His debut album, Virtuous Woman, was released in 2002 by VP Records, and spent nine weeks on the Billboard.com charts. The album included the catchy and widely-popular songs "Hold Da Faith," and "Breath of Fresh Air."
