Washington Nationals Spring Training the Experience
Baseball has been around for well over
a century, giving it enough time to gain the reputation as one of the most popular sports in the entire world. But even though
baseball is now played at a high level all over the world, Major League Baseball is still the premier league for a reason,
and it isn't because there is a lack of talent on the diamond. As fans know, it all starts in spring training when the best
of the best shake off the tiny bit of rust they accumulated over the winter and head out to the diamond to do it all over
again – a tradition that brings together great baseball and sunshine each and every year.
Thanks to players like hurler Stephen Strasburg and phenom Bryce Harper, the Nats have another strong squad that
everyone around the MLB is sure to keep their eyes on once again this season. Though they didn't quite make it to the top
of the division in 2013, they still showed plenty of promise last year and fans know that this is a team that can flip a switch
and start putting up victories in a real hurry. Fans will get a chance to see what everyone is buzzing about all the way at
the beginning of spring training, where the Nats hone their craft and ready themselves for another intense battle in the N.L.
Washington Nationals Trivia
Did you know that Pedro Martinez once threw nine perfect innings for
the Montreal Expos?
Formerly called the Expos, the Nationals have had lots of great players in their history, though
perhaps no one was any better than Pedro Martinez. Back in 1995, Martinez carved his way through the first 27 batters he faced,
though he was victim of bad luck and had to pitch into the 10th because of a tie ballgame. In the end, Martinez would at least
get a win out of the ordeal, though he received no credit for either a no-hitter or a perfect game.
The Washington Nationals have been in Washington DC for less than a decade, and in that time they
have amassed an unthinkable record. In just a few years, they have become one of the most dominant teams in baseball, flashing
their skills in both 2012 and 2013 to give fans plenty of reasons for optimism heading into the future. It hasn't taken long
for these stars to shine, and 2014 may be the year the Nationals bring home their first World Series victory. Head down to
Florida to get an early look at the Nationals and see if they have what it takes to live up to their potential and make a
major dent in the National League standings.
