This is no different when it comes to fans of the Washington Nationals, and you can see that for yourself when you head out to a game this season. Nationals Park has quickly came to be a major staple of the local sports scene around the nation's capital, making it the place to be whenever the Nationals take to the diamond. But even though home games are great, there is something special about seeing your favorite team take to the field on the road as well, as away matchups will give you a completely different perspective on your favorite team and show you that there is still nothing quite like baseball when it's played at the highest possible level.

Washington Nationals History

The Washington Nationals franchise was founded in 1969 as the Montreal Expos. The franchise was moved to Washington D.C. in 2005 and has found a passionate fan base to support the team. The Nats struggled in their early years in the nation's capital, but have grown into a real contender in the National League as of late. The Nationals captured their first division title since moving to Washington in 2012 and followed it up by running away with the N.L. East again in 2014, showing their fans what winning baseball looks like and giving their fans plenty to look forward into in an exciting era of baseball.

Washington Nationals Trivia

Who holds the single-season home run record for the franchise?

The answer is Alfonso Soriano, who belted 46 homers in 2006 to set the all-time record for the Nationals/Expos. That year, it all really came together for Soriano, who finally joined the 40-40 club of stealing 40 bases and hitting 40 home runs. Even with some very good years with the Yankees, Soriano ended up with his best statistical season in 2006, which remains arguably the most dominant offensive season in franchise history.

East, they're sure to give their fans plenty of reasons to be out of their seat, so don't even think about being left out of the action as the Nats hope to move up the standings in the division. Be there for all of the action that you'll have to see up close and personal to truly appreciate in an exciting era of Washington Nationals baseball.
