Hailing from Columbus, Georgia, Wayne Brady demonstrated his creativity early on. By age three,
his grandmother had taught him to read, and by age six, he began to craft his own commercials, songs, plays and interviews,
basing them on models pulled from TV. As he embraced his theatrical side, young Brady was influenced by the 1950s and 1960s
music of the day as well as TV and marveled at celebrities like Sid Caesar, Gene Kelly and Danny Kaye. Brady soon developed
the perfect recipe for fame. He joined the ROTC in high school, which complemented his gifts with discipline and self-confidence.
He originally intended to join the military after high school but after appearing in a high school play and enjoying the rave
reviews, he changed his plans. He made a deal with his grandmother upon graduation in 1989. The terms of the deal were that
if he could earn a living as an actor within six months, he would forgo the military. And as you already know, Brady certainly
didn't join the military, and you'll be glad he didn't when you catch his live performance. Reserve your theater
