Five piece indie outfit Why? has created a new genre for indie rock lovers with a psychedelic side. Creating their material in Oakland, California as well as Minneapolis and Cincinnati, the group incorporates their travels into their unique singles. With new records out yearly and 2008's "Alopecia" making the Billboard Top Heatseekers Top 30 chart, their concert tickets will sell quickly.
Cincinnati born trio Why? formed their indie outfit following the University of Cincinnati, working on a variety of different sounds and instruments. The group originally only included Yoni Wolf, but eventually included Yoni's brother Josiah and fellow Cincinnati alum Doug McDiarmid. The group has released several EPs, including the underground favorite "Oaklandazulaslum."
Currently based in the Bay Area, Why? incorporates their love for all different kinds of musical genres, including hip-hop, punk, lo-fi rock, and psychedelic folk-hop. With poetic lyrics, picturesque sounds and a catchy indie tune with every track, their albums have been hearing critical praise, like 2005's "Elephant Eyelash."
