VanVleet to step it up next season and play an even more important role in the Shockers' success. All of the players returning

Wichita State Shockers Basketball Conference
The Missouri Valley
Conference may be referred to as a "mid-major" by sports commentators but this Division I conference is not to be overlooked.
It is the second oldest conference in the United States, founded in 1907 and younger than only the Big Ten. Currently ten
schools participate in the Missouri Valley Conference: Bradley, Drake, University of Evansville, Illinois State, Indiana State,
Loyola-Chicago, Missouri State University, University of Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois University, and Wichita State. Each
year the schools in the Missouri Valley Conference play one another in the conference tournament which is held in St. Louis,
Missouri and known as Arch Madness, with the winner guaranteed a spot in the NCAA Tournament. In recent years Wichita State
has dominated the conference in basketball and made a name for itself in the national rankings, reaching number 2 in the 2013-2014
season and making it to the Final Four at the end of the 2012-2013 season before losing a close game to eventual champions
The Wichita State Shockers have made an appearance in several NCAA Tournaments and
made it to the Final Four in a memorable 2013 run but this was not the Shockers' first trip to the Final Four, they made it
all the way there once before, in 1965.
