About X-Fest

Now in its fourth year, Calgary's X-Fest has continued to bring some of the best musical acts in alternative music to fans for two days packed full of good times and good tunes. In conjunction with Union Events, Calgary's alternative radio station X92.9 started X-Fest in 2001, and it has since become one of Canada's most exciting alternative music events. Previous performers have included Blink-182, Linkin Park, City and Colour, Silversun Pickups, Fun., Awolnation, Mother Mother and plenty more of your favorite alternative rock bands. In addition to its stellar lineup, the X-Fest typically has a variety of food vendors and beer gardens to keep you entertained in between acts.

This year, the Arctic Monkeys and Jack White are slated to headline at X-Fest. The Arctic Monkeys have been fixtures of the alternative rock scene since their debut in 2006. Their debut album, "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not," became the fastest selling debut album in Britain's music history, with over 360,000 copies sold in just its first week. To date, the album has been certified five times platinum in the United Kingdom. Their impressive debut album has often been ranked on various "best of" lists, including being ranked as number 19 in NME's 500 greatest albums of all time.

Jack White has likewise remained a dominant force in the alternative rock genre, with the release of the White Stripes' acclaimed album, "White Blood Cells." The album has been ranked as one of the 500 greatest albums of all time by Rolling Stone, and it served as a catalyst for Jack White's rising career. After the White Stripes disbanded, Jack White embarked on his solo career, releasing his debut album in April of 2012. The album, titled "Blunderbuss," was massively successful, and it debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 138,000 copies sold in just the first week. "Blunderbuss" went on to receive several Grammy Award nominations, including Album of the Year and Best Rock Album.

In addition to Jack White and the Arctic Monkeys, this year's lineup will include Cage the Elephant, the Smalls, Fitz & the Tantrums, Serena Ryder, the Airborne Toxic Event, MS MR, the Mowgli's, Sleeper Agent, Until the Ribbon Breaks, and more.

X-Fest's Breakthrough

When the first X-Fest event was held in 2011, it was an immediate hit. Since then, X-Fest is better than ever and draws many talented bands that fans just can't get enough of. Imagine being surrounded by thousands of fans and some of your closest friends, while you get to listen to some of the best alternative rock bands around. At this year's X-Fest, you can do that and more!
