Yale Bowl History

Built all the way back before the U.S. entered World War I, the Yale Bow has been the backdrop for big football games for nearly a century since it was first built in 1916. As the home field for the Yale Bulldogs, college football fans have been pouring into the stadium by the tens of thousands for a very long time, and you never know when the next historic moment in Yale Bulldogs' history is going to happen. There is nothing quite like the experience of being there when the game is on the line and the Bulldogs are digging in, with the buzz of the crowd starting to rise, as it's a tradition that isn't likely to fade any time in the near future.

Yale has fielded a football team for more than 125 years, making it one of the oldest football programs in the nation. In addition to the Harvard rivalry that gets national attention, the Bulldogs boast more than 20 players who have reached the college football hall of fame, making for a long history of excellence that only continues to grow from year to year. TheIvy League Conferenceis always filled with strong teams and exciting matchups, making it always a good time to get out and showing your support for your Yale Bulldogs.

Yale Bowl Events/Teams

When the Bulldogs are locked in a heated battle with a top-tier opponent, there is nothing close to the feeling of being in the stands with your fellow fans, though that's not something you're going to learn sitting on your couch. Come out and see all the action the way it was meant to be seen as the Bulldogs look to dominate their Ivy League opponents and make a big move up the conference standings.

But while the men's team often gets much of the press, there's also plenty of excitement about the women's team as well, and that's because they always have an explosive roster loaded with some of the best players in the game. There are so many big matchups on the schedule, you'll have plenty of opportunities each and every season to join in the heart-pounding action. The Yale Bowl has also held some amazing concerts, including the Eagles, Heart and even The Little River Band.

New Haven, Connecticut

If you've never been to New Haven, well, it's probably time to change that. Though it sometimes gets a bad rep for its amazing winters that might make you think the teams down here are soft, that's probably because you've never seen the Bulldogs in action. These are some of the most explosive athletes in college football from season to season and the fans are known for being a passionate bunch, making their home games something to behold whenever the Bulldogs are in town. The rich sports scene is about as good as it gets if you love college football, as Yale can do a lot more than dominant in the classroom.

When it's only pride and school spirit on the line, the whole game is taken to a completely different level, making it always a good idea to come out and see what all the buzz is about around New Haven. Once you make it to New Haven getting ready for a big-time college football matchup, you'll be kicking yourself for not checking it out sooner.

Yale Bowl Seating Layout

Whether you're on the right, left or somewhere in the center, you're bound to get a great show if you make it out to Yale Bowl for a highly anticipated matchup. No, we're not talking about governmental impasses and political theater; we're talking about the elegant seating arrangement of the Yale Bowl. There isn't a bad seat in the house, which is something that you really won't understand until you actually make it out to see it for yourself. Once you're there watching one of your sports teams, the last thing you'll be thinking about is your seat, however, as you'll be jumping out of it all too often from one play to the next as a great team brings the house down.

Yale Bowl Trivia

Did you know that Yale Bowl held the New York Giants for a brief period in the 1970s?

With Yankee Stadium on the mend and Giants Stadium under construction, the New York Giants turned to the Yale Bowl for a top-tier venue for football, and they definitely found one. The Giants may not have played their long, but the fans in the area poured in by the tens of thousands to see the best pro football players in the world show them how it's done.

But even though Yale fans got a glimpse of the pro game as well, there's still no beating football when the only thing on the line is school pride. When you're there in the stands for a major college football game featuring the Bulldogs, you'll be glad that you're not anywhere else.
