Yale Bulldogs Basketball

The Yale Bulldogs are ready to take to the court for the 2014-2015 college basketball season and there is plenty of excitement surrounding the team this year. College basketball is a big deal in New Haven and whether the Bulldogs are taking on an Ivy League rival or another NCAA basketball power you can expect fans to pack the Payne Whitney Gymnasium in hopes of cheering on Yale to another big win. The Bulldogs always are able to get their fans on their feet with impressive dunks, lock down defense, clutch three-pointers, and stellar passing and there is not a better place in the country than the Payne Whitney Gymnasium to catch a game.

Once again the Yale Bulldogs will have to go up against all of the toughest teams in the Ivy League including the Brown Bears, the Columbia Lions, the Cornell Big Red, the Dartmouth Big Green, the Harvard Crimson, the Princeton Tigers, and the Penn Quakers as they look to make a big move up the conference standings in hopes of winning the regular season title and earn an automatic NCAA Tournament bid. Making your way through the tough Ivy League regular season is quite a daunting task but the Bulldogs seem to have enough talent to make some serious noise in the conference this year. The Bulldogs will be looking to get all of the support they can from their hometown fans for big games at the Payne Whitney Gymnasium so be sure to get your tickets from StubHub as soon as possible so you can get in on all of the excitement.

Yale Bulldogs Basketball History

The history of the Yale Bulldogs basketball team dates all the way back to 1896 and the team has seen plenty of success over the years. Although it has been more than 50 years since Yale played in the NCAA Tournament, the team has been on an upswing in recent years and head coach James Jones has brought plenty of excitement to the program. This could well be the year that Yale makes a big run through the Ivy League and a return to the Tournament.

Yale Bulldogs Basketball Conference

The Yale Bulldogs are part of the Ivy League, one of the only basketball conferences in the United States that does not have a conference tournament. This means that the regular season champion earns the conference's automatic NCAA Tournament bid and every game during the regular season takes on extra importance. There are currently eight teams competing in the Ivy League, the Brown Bears, the Columbia Lions, the Cornell Big Red, the Dartmouth Big Green, the Harvard Crimson, the Princeton Tigers, the Penn Quakers, and the Yale Bulldogs. In the 2014-2015 season the Harvard Crimson will be the defending champions after losing only one game in the conference last season. Harvard has earned a lot of respect for the Ivy League on the hardwood with strong showings in the NCAA Tournament in recent years and every other team in the conference will be looking to take down the Crimson this season in hopes of showing that they are also a force to be reckoned with on the national stage.

The Experience

Attending a top college basketball game is one of the best experiences to be found in sports. Many of the best student athletes in the world take the court in college basketball, when this is combined with some of the most passionate fans in all of sports there is an atmosphere in the arena that cannot be found anywhere else. When you set foot inside Payne Whitney Gymnasium for a Yale Bulldogs home basketball game this will all be clear. As the teams set up for opening jump ball the fans get on their feet and loudly cheer for their alma mater and hometown favorites. The game continues full of end to end action, big time shots, and clutch defensive stops. All of a sudden the clock is winding down in the second half and the two sides are wrapped up in yet another tight contest. Your palms get sweaty with each trip down the floor and each time a player from your favorite team lets loose a shot you hold your breath until the ball tickles the twine. This continues until the final buzzer when the Bulldogs' side erupts after another big win and their fans exit of the arena in jubilation. The moment you leave Payne Whitney Gymnasium you will want to immediately start planning your next trip to the venue to cheer on the Bulldogs.
