Yuja Wang began playing piano at the age of 6, with her earliest public recitals taking place in Australia, Germany and
China, and became a serious student at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. Along her career path, she attended Morningside
Music summer program and at the age of 15, won the Aspen Music Festival's concert competition. Wang released her premiere
recording Sonatas & Etudes in the spring of 2009. Gramophone magazine said the release, "suggests a combination of blazing
technique and rare instinct for poetry." Wang earned the Classic FM Gramophone Awards 2009 Young Artist of the Year. Her second
recording, Transformation, earned her an Echo Award 2011 also as Young Artist of the Year. Wang's next project involved a
collaboration with Maestro Claudio Abbado and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra to record her debut concerto album, including Rachmaninoff's
Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini and his piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor - which garnered a nomination for a Grammy as Best
Classical Instrumental Solo. Fantasia is Wang's most current record and serves as a collection of encore pieces by Bach, Chopin,
Albeniz, Rachmaninov, Scriabin and Saint-Saens and others.

In 2006, Yuja Wang made her New York Philharmonic premiere at the Bravo! Vail Music Festival and performed with the orchestra
the following season under Lorin Maazel during the Philharmonic's visit to Japan/Korea. Two years later, Wang embarked on
a tour of the U.S. with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, and in 2009, she performed as a soloist with the You Tube
Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall. She additionally performed with the Lucerne Festival Orchestra in Beijing, the Royal
Philharmonic Orchestra in Spain and in London, and the Hong Kong Philharmonic.
