Zeds Dead humble beginnings would start in Toronto, Canada, one of the cultural and musical capitals of North
America known for its diverse and dynamic music scene. The band's early forays onto the music scene would be a regular music
event at Toronto's 751, where they would perform weekly alongside fellow electro act The Killabits. The band quickly built
a local following, taking a nontraditional path to success that bypassed the club music scene and instead focused on hosting
their own parties and events, giving the duo complete control over the music, tone, and style of their shows. The band gained
the unofficial addition of Omar LinX, a Toronto based vocalist and rapper, who would frequently collaborate with the duo and
infuse them with addictive vocals that would complete their overall sound.
Zeds Dead would soon pick up the Toronto
label San City High, and prepare for the release of their record debut. In the interim the band would take the internet path
to success, invading social media websites across the board with millions of view on YouTube and various other online music
and EDM communities. They would continue their commitment to directly interfacing with their fans throughout their career,
offering direct downloads and internet streaming that so readily defines the modern EDM movement. Their nonstop work ethic
would soon see them collaborating with the similar new wave EDM artists, including Blue Foundation and Dragonette, creating
a new cohort of DJ performers that mix electro and house sensibilities with foundational dubstep and D&B sound.
a steady stream of commercial and club hits, the band would sign onto the Mad Decent label, opening up their musical avenues
as they began to collaborate with artists such as Mavado and Steve Aoki. They would embark on a near constant world tour schedule,
hitting locations from the United Kingdom and North America to Oceania and continental Europe. Amongst their impressive resume
of major festivals played, they've sampled the hottest nightclubs of Ibiza and Cannes, Kingdom Rave X, Pumpehuset, and Lollapalooza.
The band's breakout single would be the 2010 hit "Rudeboy", which would drop as the first set of
their San City High label discography. "Rudeboy" would blow up YouTube and feature Omar LinX, and quickly became sampled in
clubs across the globe and remixed by the hottest musicians on the EDM tour scene. The band's 2012 followup, Adrenaline, would
be their first charting single that would climb both the US Dance and US Heatseekers charts, with #11 and #15 showings, respectively.
band's most successful work to date would be 2013's Hot Sauce, dropping again on Mad Decent Records and making their first
break onto the US Indie scene. The album would hit the #34 position on the Indie charts, as well as #13 on the US Dance charts
and an all time high of #6 on US Heatseekers. Like many of their previous works, Zeds Dead would release Hot Sauce as a free
digital download, a sign of appreciation to their fanbase and a staple of new EDM musicians.
Amongst the band's other
original hits are "Out For Blood", again featuring Omar LinX, "1975", "White Satin", and "Ruckus The Jam", amongst others.
The band has also remixed a wide variety of rock and EDM hits, including Radiohead's "Pyramid Song", Fenech-Soler's "LA Love",
The Pretender from Dave Grohl & The Foo Fighters, Massive Attack's "Paradise Circus", and major crowd favorite "Gimme
Shelter" by the Rolling Stones.
The band has found itself expanded beyond just the music scene,
with a their song featured in a GQ Magazine video shoot in 2010.
The band's first official show came just over five
years ago. Their inaugural DJ event would be at Toronto's famed club The Social, a proving ground for many up and coming Toronto
The DJ duo utilizes nicknames instead of going by their real names: Dylan Mamid goes by DC, while Zach Rapp-Rovan
performs under the moniker Hooks.
