Against the Current tour dates
Aptly named pop-rockers Against the Current took a unorthodox route to stardom. Formed in 2011, the band established themselves as a force within the music business by releasing popular cover songs via YouTube. After years of building a following through online means alone, they would go on to play the Sink or Swim Tour, Glamour Kills Spring Break and eventually land on stage at the Vans Warped Tour.
Against the Current background
When Jeremy Rompala, Dan Gow and Will Ferri first came together in 2011, Against the Current was officially born. Chrissy Costanza join the band later that year to handle lead vocals. The group spent the next few years covering songs from other artists ranging from Kelly Clarkson to Owl City, but this didn't stop them from releasing their own debut single "Thinking" in 2012.
Against the Current independently released their debut album, Infinity, in 2014. Even though the album was solely distributed online, it managed to rank in the Top 30 on the Heatseekers Album chart.
While the band's first experience as headliners didn't come until the end of 2014, the group spent all of that year touring everywhere from Canada to Australia. During this time, the band released an all-acoustic version of Infinity, followed by their third EP, Gravity. Less than a month after Gravity's release, Fueled by Ramen signed the group to its first record deal, which led to the release their first full-length studio album, In Our Bones (2016).
Against the Current biggest hits
Snagging a pair of Against the Current tickets was undoubtedly easier back when they were just YouTube stars, but that doesn't mean that they weren't still making waves in the business. In fact, their second single, "Closer, Faster," garnered over five million views on YouTube by the time their debut album was released.
The band's first single from Gravity, "Running With the Wild Things," also got considerable attention from the music industry. Upset Magazine even ran a feature article on the single, and this additional exposure no doubt helped the album climb up to No. 2 on the U.S. Rock & Metal Albums chart. Gravity also broke the top 20 on Billboard's top rock albums.
