It’s that time again: "Arabian Nights" is playing in your head, and you get that feeling that tells you that you want to see one of your favorite stories from your youth, Aladdin. The original and the 2019 movies are great, but many fans really appreciate the production values that go into the hit Broadway musical. This musical tells the same tale of the "street rat" Aladdin as he maneuvers through a world where genies are real, and true love is right around the corner. Aladdin, at its core, is all about getting along with the help of your friends and overcoming even the toughest obstacles. The play has a vibrant, Tony Award-winning cast, and many of the musical numbers from the original film as well as a few new ones can be experienced live with thousands of other theatergoers. Aladdin is designed to not only provide you with your dose of adventure, but the main characters are quirky, funny and are very enjoyable for most audiences.Prince Ali — From Screen to Stage
How similar is this show to the 1992 movie? Well, most of the characters are intact, and the performance of the genie is larger than life. The production is also filled with state-of-the art effects that will suck you into the fantastical land of Agrabah. The entire performance is based on the visions of the original creators, and famous names like Alan Menken, who composed the movie’s score, can be found as a major contributor on the show’s playbill. In fact, Aladdin even contains some of the aspects of the original production that were left on the cutting room floor. This includes the presence of three somewhat new characters and a musical number that didn’t get included in the original movie. Additionally, Jonathan Freeman has reprised his role in the production as Jafar. Freeman is no stranger to the stage, and his live performances as Jafar has all the mustache-twirling dastardliness that you’d expect from an actor that has inhabited a famously villainous role for the better part of 30 years. The show has its roots in Manhattan’s New Amsterdam Theatre. This venue hosted the opening years of another famous Disney film-turned-stage-musical, The Lion King.Where can I buy Aladdin Minneapolis tickets?

Don Darryl Rivera plays a human Iago, and he is as scheming as ever in the show. How long has Aladdin the musical been running?
