The son of Michael Gilbert and Yoko Takebe, two violinists with the New York Philharmonic, it’s unsurprising that Alan Gilbert followed in their footsteps and made music his career and passion. Music and cooperation

Throughout his career, Alan Gilbert has dedicated himself to the mentoring of younger generations of musicians and conductors. In 2011 he became Director of Conducting and Orchestral Studies at his Alma Mater, Juilliard School, and he was also the first person to hold the William Schuman Chair in Musical Studies there.
