Allen Fieldhouse is the official home of the University of Kansas Jayhawks men's and women's basketball teams. Opened on March 1st, 1955, the arena is named after legendary coach Forrest Clare "Phog" Allen, who led the team between 1919 and 1956 and won an NCAA Tournament championship in 1952. The court is named after James Naismith, the inventor of basketball and the team's first ever head coach. The arena is located on the university campus in Lawrence, Kansas. Does Allen Fieldhouse have on-site parking?
For guests attending Allen Fieldhouse events, parking lots are available in the immediate vicinity of the arena and throughout the greater Lawrence campus area. For home basketball games, a parking permit is required to use the Allen Fieldhouse Garage and certain lots around the campus. These lots are typically reserved for donors, VIPs, season ticket holders and guests with special needs. Public parking is also available for a fee at the Central District Parking Garage on a first-come, first-served basis. You can access the garage from 19th Street and Ousdahl. Beginning two hours before the start of the game, a shuttle service will run from lots 301 and 302 to the Allen Fieldhouse. Return trips will run until 30 minutes following the end of the game.
Does Allen Fieldhouse offer accessible services for disabled visitors?
Accessible parking spaces are available all around campus, depending on the event and the season. There are eight accessible spaces in the Allen Fieldhouse Garage, six spaces in lot 54, 25 spaces in lot 71 and 13 spaces in lot 72. You can also find spaces in the 301 and 302 lots and take the shuttle to the arena. The drop-off spot is near the south entrance of Allen Fieldhouse. Accessible seating is located on the floor level in sections M and B on the north and south ends of the arena. Three companion seats are included as well. If you need to make special arrangements, then you can call guest services ahead of time. Service animals are allowed inside of the arena.
Does Allen Fieldhouse have premium seating?
Major donors to the university will have the opportunity to purchase courtside seating for men's and women's basketball games. A courtside Allen Fieldhouse ticket in the front row entitles you to plush chair-back seating, a food and beverage table and access to the Naismith Room and Donor Atrium.
Can I bring my video camera to the arena?
Unfortunately, the arena does not allow video cameras. Additional prohibited items include containers, bottles, cans, backpacks or bags, outside food and drinks, poles and sticks, weapons, horns, noisemakers and all animals or pets except for service animals.
