NCAA basketball tickets were first sold to an AEC game when the 1979-80 basketball season began. Originally the organization was known as the ECAC North, and then from 1979 to 1988 as the North Atlantic Conference. Not all of the full-time members of the AEC have football programs, so for the most part these schools are crazy about basketball, making it always a great time to join in the action. Recently, it has been the Albany Great Danes who have taken down a couple of tournament titles, though Vermont and Stony Brook have both been major factors from one year to the next. Put it all together and this is a conference that is never lacking in rim-rocking excitement that you know you'll want to be a part of once again this season.
