When the Dixie Chicks were set to perform their 2003 Dallas tour stop at American Airlines Center, singer Natalie Maines was told by an anonymous person that she would be shot dead at the concert as a result of her critical comments of then President George W. Bush. American Airlines Center is well known as a top notch concert venue and was named Best New Major Concert Venue in 2001 by Pollstar Magazine as well as Concert Venue of the Year in 2006 by the same magazine.
