The Broadway musical titled Anastasia is based on the 1997 animated film of the same name. The musical tells the story of the daughter of the last Tsar of Russia, Nicholas II's daughter Anastasia. History tells us that Anastasia died on the night that the Bolshevik's killed the Tsar's entire family. The story of the musical supposes that she was the only survivor and lived long after her family was brutally murdered. The musical introduces us to two Russian con men who were living in Russia. They meet a street sweeper named Anya who looks very much like the famed princess Anastasia. They create a plan to exploit this to their benefit. The trio then travels between Russia and Paris, all while being stalked by an obsessed Bolshevik General named Gleb. As the story goes on, Anya finds out that there is a lot more to her than she realizes, and she sets out to discover if she really is the only surviving member of the Romanov family.
The Anastasia musical has been recognized by the theater community with multiple award nominations and wins.
