For country-music fans, the 1960s and 1970s ushered in a new era for the "Nashville sound," that distinctive subgenre that replaced honky-tonk jamming with more-sophisticated instrumentals and hard-hitting, take-no-prisoners lyrics. In recent years, a handful of new singers have broken away from the dominating country rock scene, emerging with a new Nashville sound that blends both old-school classic country and contemporary country pop. As one of the most talented performers in this new music scene, singer/songwriter Andrew Combs evokes comparisons to legends such as Roy Orbison and Merle Haggard, but in the end, emerges with his own memorable sound; a sound that some critics have called "classic country -- with electric guitars.

Trivia
In 2009, when Andrew Combs was still an unknown singer/songwriter, he worked as an intern for the American Songwriter magazine where his main tasks were judging lyric contest submissions and alphabetising CDs that were sent to the magazine for review.
Singer
While working at the American Songwriter magazine, Combs performed several of his original songs for the magazine's editors and publishers, Robert Clement and Davis Inman. They were really impressed and Davis Inman offered to manage his career. That led to the breakthrough release of Combs' first EP, which gained major attention and paved the way for a full-time performing career. Since then, Combs has maintained an active tour schedule and appears regularly at high-profile events such as the Newport Folk Festival and the Americana Music Festival. Combs often shares the stage with performers such as Shovels & Rope and Caitlin Rose, and he frequently performs and records with players such as the guitar duo Steelism.
Breakthrough
With the 2010 release of his debut EP Tennessee Time, Andrew Combs received acclaim with critics comparing him to classic 1970s singers who helped develop the "Nashville sound"--singers such as Mickey Newbury and Guy Clark. The success of this EP led to a deal with the New York publishing company Razor&Tie, which orchestrated his first album release.
Hit Albums
In 2012, Combs released his first full-length album Worried Man, which won a four-star review from the prestigious American Songwriter magazine. The album, which generated the popular single Foolin', won Combs a mainstream following, as well as a huge fan base. His second album, All These Dreams (2015), is a successful follow-up and has won critical acclaim for its old-school vibe fused with contemporary country-musical stylings.
Show Experience
While you'll see plenty of country-music fans at an Andrew Combs concert, thanks to his huge crossover popularity you'll also see rockers, folk fans and pop aficionados. Get ready to wave your lighters and be prepared for plenty of audience interaction, because Combs invokes a high level of enthusiasm with his energised vocals and hot instrumentals -- plus, it doesn't hurt that he has a wickedly-funny sense of humour that frequently brings cheers from the audience. While there's always plenty of toe-tapping fun, some of the show's highlights are renditions of Comb's most serious, introspective works such as Suwannee County and Too Stoned to Cry.
