Andrew Ryan Tickets
A performer who made his comedy circuit debut in 2008, Irishman Andrew Ryan took up telling jokes for a living after he entered an open mic contest on a whim. Over recent years, Ryan has developed his routine sufficiently to make him one of the most in-demand acts, either as a stand-up comedian or as an MC. He has hosted and performed at some of the most prestigious comedy clubs across the length and breadth of both the UK and the Republic of Ireland. For example, in his home country, the comedian has taken to the stage at the Kilkenny Cat Laughs festival, the Ivy Gardens in Dublin, plus performing at the Galway Comedy Festival. He is also well known to television viewers in the UK. Ryan has featured on BBC3’s Russell Howard’s Good News before. His stand-up routines have also been broadcast from shows such as Best of the Edinburgh Festival Live by the BBC.
Andrew Ryan's plaudits
Ryan's demeanour and observational style of comedy have led to him being widely praised. When he took his debut hour-long show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2012, a dream destination for many an emerging comic talent, Ryan's storytelling abilities and cheeky but friendly style won him many new fans. The show was entitled Ryanoploy and it won rave reviews from many of the critics who attended it. The Metro newspaper gave it four stars and said that it was an illuminating debut.
When Ryan returned to Edinburgh with a new stand-up show, The Life of Ryan, he was equally well received. Timeout said that it was obvious from the 2014 performance that Ryan would go on to become a big comedy star, again awarding the show four stars. In 2015, Ryan came back with a completely new show, called Perfectly Inadequate, which many considered to be his best yet. As the comedian's stature grew, so did the number of performances he had to put on. All of the initial run of shows at the festival were sold out and he had to find time to fit more in. Edfestmag, which covers the festival each year, said that the show constituted 'an hour of hilarious comedy'.
Andrew Ryan's other work
In addition to his touring shows, Ryan has done a lot of other work in comedy. He has performed for Comedy Central at the Comedy Store, for example. He has also appeared on Alex Zane’s Funny Rotten Scoundrels, a show broadcast on the London Live channel. In addition, Ryan is a frequent guest on BBC Radio Manchester and MUTV.
