Mr. Warbucks announces a reward for anyone who can prove he or she is Annie’s parent. The journey takes many twists and turns, with frauds showing up to claim their parentage. Over the past four decades, Annie has become one of the world's most popular musicals.
When It All BeganBased on the 1924 Harold Gray comic strip Little Orphan Annie, Annie the musical was first performed in 1976 at the Goodspeed Opera House stage in Connecticut. The show, which was written by Thomas Meehan with music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin, soon moved to the Broadway stage, where it became an immediate hit.
