K-pop is one of South Korea's biggest exports. Bouncy beats, addictive rhythms, super-catchy melodies -- these are the hallmarks of this musical genre. Now, American fans can catch K-pop stars from the Antenna record label on one stage. Pop enthusiasts can purchase Antenna tickets and sing along to their favorite tunes.
The Antenna tour includes stops at Prudential Hall at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, New Jersey, and the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California. It's the first concert series of its kind: superstars from the famous Antenna label showcase Korean pop to American audiences. Organizers divide the festival's lineup into two categories: "Antenna Warriors," established acts from the Antenna label, headline the event, while "Antenna Angels," newer artists, introduce their music to enthusiastic, packed crowds. Before coming to the United States, Antenna completed a successful tour of South Korea.
More than 10 acts take to the stage in Antenna concerts, including performers such as Jung Jae-hyung, The Peppertones and Lucid Fall. Singer-songwriter Jung Jae-hyung has sold millions of records around the world and has released 11 albums since he debuted on the music scene back in the '90s. His studio albums include 2010's Le Petit Piano and 2009's Promenade. He also contributed to the soundtrack for the South Korean motion picture Seducing Mr. Perfect. "Swimming Pool," "Wings," "The Lady with a Pearl Earring" and "A Day in Paris" are among the artist's best-loved hits.
The Peppertones, an electronic-house duo, scooped the award for Best Dance and Electronic Single at the 2007 Korean Music Awards for the hit "Superfantastic (Colorful Express)." The Peppertones have released five studio albums, including 2014's High-Five and 2012's Beginner's Luck, and garnered a large international fan base.
South Korean singer-songwriter Lucid Fall has released five studio albums -- including 2011's Beautiful Days and 2013's Flowers Never Say -- and has won several awards in his homeland. He is famous for his emotional lyrics and strumming his nylon guitar. Some of his signature songs include "Still There, Still Here," "Going Home Safe," "Dancing in April" and "Flower of Summer."
Other acts touring with Antenna include Lee Soo-jung -- the winner of the South Korean talent show K-pop Star 5 -- and Sam Kim, who released his debut EP, I Am Sam, in 2016. Performers such as Park Sae-byul also make an appearance on the Antenna tour. This indie singer-songwriter has released two studio albums -- 2010's Morning Star and 2013's High Heel -- and has hundreds of thousands of hits on YouTube. She has been signed to the Antenna label since 2006.
