It has been held at over 200 tracks in 26 states and provinces of the US and Canada. As many as 160 race teams compete in ARCA races each year. The ARCA name has been associated with Menards since 2011. In 2018, ARCA was purchased by NASCAR. Frank Kimmel is the all-time leader in ARCA Menards Series championships with 10 titles, including eight straight between 2000 and 2007. Iggy Katona won six ARCA Menards Series championships between 1953 and 1967. NASCAR Hall of Fame member Benny Parsons won back-to-back ARCA Menards Series titles in 1968 and 1969. The 2020 season opens at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla., then moves to Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, Ariz. It finishes at the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kan. Along the way, it makes stops at the Salem Speedway in Salem, Ind.; the Elko Speedway in Elko, Minn.; and the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds in DuQuoin, Ill. The cars of the ARCA Menards Series will also take on the triangle track at Pocono Raceway in Blakesleee, Pa., in June and the road course at Watkins Glen, N.Y., in August.
What are the best ARCA Menards/NASCAR combination races?ARCA Menards Series races will share the weekend schedule with NASCAR's other touring series several times in 2020. To open the season, ARCA will run its first race a week before the Daytona 500. The ARCA Menards Series General Tire 200 will share the bill with the NASCAR Cup Series' GEICO 500 at Talladega, Ala., in April. It will share the spotlight for the Independence Day weekend of racing in Indianapolis, Inc. And it will join the raucous short track weekend for the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol, Tenn., in September.
How does the ARCA Menards Series determine its champion?The ARCA Menards Series awards one point per finishing position for its regular-season races. The winning driver earns 43 points. Second place earns 42 and each position through the field yields one less point. There is a three-point bonus for winning a race plus bonuses for winning the pole and for leading laps. The ARCA Menards Series also awards bonus points for teams that attempt five-race segment within its season. Points are tallied at the end of the season to determine the Series champion.
