Atlanta Blaze Tickets
The expansion Atlanta Blaze joined the Major League Lacrosse lineup in 2016, and play their homes games at Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw, Ga. MLL began investing in the Atlanta metropolitan market by holding several games at the team's eventual home venue before adding the franchise, including the 2014-16 Steinfeld Cup finales, which attracted crowds in excess of 8,000. The market was clearly primed for an expansion, the ninth in the MLL. The coaches and players are comprised of a mix of seasoned pros and experienced amateurs. Atlanta Blaze Info
Despite the offseason death of Atlanta’s head coach, Dave Hutley, who passed away suddenly at the age of 60, the Blaze pulled together to hit the .500 mark (7-7) for the first time in franchise history and come within a win of a playoff spot. Under former MLL player Liam Banks, the team is already fine-tuning the roster for 2019, re-signing its core group of Tommy Palasek, Liam Byrnes, Justin Pennington and goaltender Chris Madalon. The veteran Palasek was acquired via trade with the New York Lizards in 2018, and immediately became a difference-maker, registering 26 points and serving as a team leader.
Lacrosse: The Fastest Game On Two Feet
Lacrosse as we know it has deep roots in Native American and Canadian culture, and it is one of the oldest team sports in North America dating back to the early 1600s. While various tribes used different names for the game, including one that roughly translates as “they bump hips,” it took a French missionary to give its current name, while writing about the sport in 1636.
Atlanta Blaze Home: Fifth Third Bank Stadium
Fifth Third Bank Stadium is a multi-use venue which opened in May 2010. It was built primarily to host the Atlanta Beat, a women’s professional soccer team. The stadium was also built in partnership with Kennesaw State University. Many KSU teams use the stadium as their home field. In addition to soccer, sports enthusiasts can enjoy football games, rugby matches and lacrosse. The stadium features a permanent stage at one end for concerts. It seats more than 8,300, though that can nearly double for concerts.
