Atlanta Football Classic TicketsIn 1989, the historically black colleges and universities of the South established the Bank of America Atlanta Football Classic. It was an exciting matchup between two successful historically black universities that would face off in either September or October. After 25 years of annual meetups, however, the event was replaced by the current-day Celebration Bowl. The conference that participated in the Classic was the Mid-Eastern Athletic that now also plays in the Celebration Bowl. Once the matchup was restructured to become the Celebration Bowl, many of the features that characterized the Atlanta Football Classic were passed on. Examples include nail-biting games between evenly ranked teams, a rich tailgating scene and very passionate fans. Also, the stadium where the games took place, which was the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, was used for the Celebration Bowl until just a few years ago. That’s why a lot of folks continue to refer to the game as the Atlanta Football Classic. If you are interested in watching the upcoming game in December, make sure to get your tickets at StubHub.

Once the newly named matchup came to life, the Georgia Dome continued to be used for another two seasons. The Celebration Bowl is now played at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium where the NFL's Atlanta Falcons play. This is certainly an upgrade since the Falcons' stadium is incomparably larger and more advanced.
