Atlantic 10 Basketball Tournament TicketsThe Atlantic 10 is one of the most successful mid-major conferences in Division I basketball. Formed in 1975 from an amalgam of eastern basketball schools, the conference is now comprised of 14 teams from across the East Coast states (with the exception of the Dayton Flyers from Ohio and the St. Louis Billikens from Missouri). The conference has been represented once in the Final Four by John Calipari’s top-ranked 1996 Massachusetts Minutemen team. However, both the 2011 Virginia Commonwealth Rams under Shaka Smart and the 2006 George Mason Patriots under Jim Larranaga made the Final Four right before joining the conference. The Atlantic 10 Tournament is an opportunity for teams to recalibrate after the end of the regular season conference run. The winner receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament regardless of the team’s regular season record. Grab your Atlantic 10 basketball tickets at StubHub.
Who takes part in the Atlantic 10 Tournament?Every team in the conference takes part in the tournament. The teams are seeded 1–14 based on their regular season conference records. Tiebreakers are used to determine the seeding in case multiple teams finish with the same record. Every team will have a chance to compete for an automatic NCAA Tournament spot.
What is the format of the Atlantic 10 Tournament? To accommodate all 14 teams in the conference, the Atlantic 10 Tournament takes place over five rounds with an unusual structure. In the first round, the bottom four seeds match up against each other, and the remaining teams receive a bye. The two winners then move on to play the 5th and 6th seeds in the second round. The 8th seed and 9th seeds also play each other, and the 7th and 10th seeds match up as well. The winners of these four games then move on to play the top four seeds of the conference in the quarterfinals. The tournament then proceeds as normal with a semifinal and a title game to determine the champion. All games are single elimination. There is no consolation bracket.
