Aurora TicketsAurora, whose full name is Aurora Aksnes, is one of the most popular musical acts to emerge from Norway in the 21st century. Her music combines electronic and synth pop with orchestral and folk elements, and her unique sound makes her a riveting performer to see live. Aurora has cited Bjork, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen as major influences on her work. She has personally collaborated with the British electronic band, Icarus, and the Danish house artist Rune Reilly Kolsch. Aurora came to greater prominence in the United States with appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.
A Different Kind of SingerBorn in Stavanger, Norway, Aurora showed proclivity as a singer and songwriter from an early age. Some of the songs she had written as a child made it into her later work. After signing with the record labels Glassnote and Decca at age 18, Aurora recorded two non-album singles, "Awakening" and "Under Stars," which received positive attention on streaming music services. In 2015, she released an extended play album, Running with the Wolves. The album won the Norwegian Album of the Year from the European Border Breakers Award, which celebrates artists that transcend borders. This early buzz helped to generate hype for the release of her first full-length studio album All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend in 2016. The album peaked at No. 1 in Norway and charted throughout the rest of Europe on the strength of the singles "Running with the Wolves" (reused from the EP album) and a cover of the Oasis song "Half the World Away." In recognition of her talent, Aurora won Newcomer of the Year from the Norwegian Spellemannprisen Awards. She also received a nomination for Best Norwegian Act from the MTV Europe Music Awards. Aurora followed this success up with a second extended play album, Infections of a Different Kind (Step 1), on Sept. 28, 2018, and her sophomore full-length album, A Different Kind of Human (Step 2), on June 7, 2019. Apart from her studio albums, Aurora has also dabbled in work for TV shows and movies. She recorded a cover for the David Bowie hit "Life on Mars" for the HBO series Girls and a version of "Baby Mine" for the trailer to the 2019 remake of Dumbo.
