Auto Club Raceway at Pomona is a racing facility located Calif., with a quarter-mile dragstrip. It is the annual site of the NHRA's Winternationals event. The raceway has also hosted the NHRA finals, which is the culminating race each season. Auto Club Raceway is slightly unique among other racing locations because it's both owned and operated by the NHRA. Its history actually began in 1951 when locals convinced the city of Pomona to allow hot rod enthusiasts to race on the fairground's facilities. Can I park at the raceway?
On-site parking is available to all spectators at Auto Club Raceway events at Pomona events. Pit parking is adjacent to the entrance gates and is available for an additional fee.
Is the raceway close to public transportation?
There are a few different options if you prefer taking public transportation to Auto Club Raceway at Pomona events. The Metrolink train can take you to the Pomona Station, and from there, hop on the 197 bus to reach the venue. The 197 bus also travels throughout the region and connects with other lines, so taking advantage of this transit option may make sense depending on your original location.
Is there anywhere nearby to eat?
There are food and drinks available for purchase at the Auto Club Raceway. If you'd like to grab a bite at a restaurant before the race, there are several nearby establishments along Wright Ave. to the west and along E St. to the north next to the University of La Verne.
Are there any notable attractions in the vicinity?
The raceway is close to hiking trails from which you can enjoy panoramic views of the foothills and valleys. The NHRA Motorsports Museum is adjacent to the raceway as well. It is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Wednesday through Sunday, and it has various exhibitions that showcase the history of the sport.
Is there anything in particular I should bring with me to a race?
Since the bleachers are quite close to the dragstrip, ear protection is advised. If you want to make a full day out of your trip to the raceway, you may want to bring drinks and snacks in a cooler with you. Please note that no glass is allowed.
