Baltimore Blast TicketsThe Baltimore Blast has been synonymous with the Charm City ever since the club was founded in 1992. The team has been dominant in the many different indoor soccer leagues in which it has taken part and is seemingly competitive every year. Even after league changes and franchise shifts, Baltimore has continuously had an indoor soccer team since 1980. These teams have been a part of the fabric of the city, even running camps for local kids. Under current boss, Danny Kelly, the modern version of the Blast has won nine league titles, including three championships in a row from 2016 through 2018. The Blast brings high-energy indoor soccer to its home arena for 12 games each year in addition to its near-annual date in the MASL playoffs. The team is a popular ticket in Baltimore and plays in a small arena. Get your Baltimore Blast tickets at StubHub today.
Is this the first version of the Baltimore Blast? There was actually a predecessor version of the Baltimore Blast that played in the Major Indoor Soccer League. The original Baltimore Blast moved to the city in 1980 and played to packed houses at the Baltimore Arena. The Blast won the MISL title in 1984 and drew over 10,000 fans per night for four years during their run until the MISL folded in 1992.
When did this version of the Baltimore Blast begin to play? The loss of the original Baltimore Blast left a hole in the city's sports scene. At the time, all Baltimore had was the Orioles since the Ravens had yet to move to the city. Recognizing that, a local entrepreneur founded a new version of the Blast and placed them in the National Professional Soccer League. While the team has changed leagues many times as the indoor soccer landscape has shifted, the Blast is still going strong after all of these years.
Where does the Blast play its home games? For almost four decades, the Blast played at the Royal Farms Arena in Downtown Baltimore. In search of a more intimate venue, the Blast relocated to the suburbs for the 2017 season. Now, the Blast plays at SECU Arena on the campus of Towson University. The smaller capacity makes the Blast a tougher ticket to get, as the approximately 3,500-seat arena is regularly sold out, giving the Blast a home-field advantage.
In what league does the Baltimore Blast play? The Blast has moved leagues a number of times over the years. After stints in the MASL and MISL, the Blast has settled on the Major Arena Soccer League as their home. The MASL consists of 17 teams spread across two conferences on both coasts. The Blast focuses its schedule mostly on teams in the Eastern Conference due to travel costs, although it has played games against its historic rival, the San Diego Sockers.
Who are the all-time great players and coaches for the Blast? The Blast Hall of Fame consists of players from both the old and the new Blast. In the 1980s, Stan Stamenkovic was a soccer legend in Baltimore, and he led the team to the MISL title in 1983-84 along with Mike Stankovic and Tim Wittman. Kenny Cooper was the longtime coach of the Blast, and he was one of the first inductees into the Hall of Fame as well. In recent years, Danny Kelly has been a franchise great, first as a midfielder and then as the coach.
