The Ravens have only been playing in Baltimore since the 1990s. Nevertheless, the team has made it to the NFL playoffs 11 times and won two Super Bowl championships (XXXV and XLVII), an impressive achievement for such a short period of time. The Ravens emerged when owner Art Modell moved his Cleveland Browns to Baltimore in 1996. While the franchise technically moved, the Browns' name, history and colors stayed in Cleveland. The new team name for Baltimore came from the poem "The Raven" by famous Baltimorean Edgar Allan Poe. Ray Lewis was the first player to be selected for the team’s defense. This proved to be a wise choice as the future Hall of Famer ultimately become one of the most feared linebackers in the league. The Ravens had a slow start in the first four years, but in 2000, the tide turned thanks to their amazing defense, which was led by Lewis. The offensive game was also improved for the Ravens with players such as Jonathan Ogden and Shannon Sharpe. While the team is now led by players like Lamar Jackson, it's still racking up wins.
