Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, Barbara Mason first discovered her love of music while playing her grandmother�s piano. In her teens, Mason created a variety of musical groups, which led to notice of her talent by someone popular in the local music scene. Weldon McDougal III, a member of the popular group The Larks, took note of Mason�s musical talent, and she began performing with the group on local shows. That led to her meeting Jimmy Bishop, a leading disc jockey in Philadelphia at the time, and recording �Trouble Child� her first single.
