The world premiere of Beautiful took place at Curran Theater in San Francisco in 2013. The show had a limited one-month run, with musical direction by Jason Howland and original choreography by Josh Prince. A year later, the show made its grand Broadway debut. Beautiful opened at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on January 12, and in February 2014, the cast recorded an original soundtrack. Beautiful: The Carole King Musical is hosted by Clowes Memorial Hall while it's in Indianapolis. The venue is on the Butler University campus and can seat nearly 2,100 audience members. Opened in 1963, Clowes Memorial Hall regularly welcomes everything from concerts and orchestras to guest lecturers. Free tours of the venue are available during the week, providing audiences a look behind the scenes before seeing a show.
