Beautiful: The Musical Miami Tickets
Carole King’s music provided a cultural soundtrack for the mid-20th century with hits such as “Will You Love Me Tomorrow,” “Pleasant Valley Sunday,” “I Feel the Earth Move” and “(You Make Me Feel Like a) Natural Woman.”
Her timeless hits continue to resonate with audiences through Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, playing in Miami at the Ziff Ballet Opera House.
About the Show
Beautiful follows King’s professional and personal life from New York to L.A., starting with the sale of her first song when she was a teenager in 1958, and ending with her personal and creative triumph, the Tapestry album in 1971. Show highlights include moments from King’s bittersweet marriage and professional partnership with songwriter Gerry Goffin and her dynamic friendships with fellow songwriters Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann.
Beautiful provides plenty of opportunities to reminisce and tap your toes to timeless hits written by King, Goffin, Weil and Man, such as “So Far Away,” “Locomotion,” “On Broadway,” “Up on the Roof,” “You’ve Got a Friend” and, of course, “Beautiful.”
Playwright and filmmaker Douglas McGrath wrote the musical’s book. McGrath collaborated with Woody Allen on the Oscar-nominated film Bullets Over Broadway and directed other films such as Jane Austen’s Emma and Charles Dickens’ Nicholas Nickleby. His critically acclaimed play, Checkers, explores the last days of Nixon’s presidency and opened New York Vineyard Theatre’s 30th anniversary season.
About Carole King
Carole King, born in 1942, began her career with the sale of her first song, “It Might as Well Rain Until September,” in 1958 at the age of 16. By the age of 17, she’d co-written her first hit, “Will You Still Love Me,” with Gerry Goffin, whom she married soon after. By the time she was in her 20s, headlining acts the Shirelles, Little Eva, The Monkees, The Drifters and The Animals recorded songs she penned alone and with Goffin.
Her 1971 album Tapestry won four Grammys. Since then, artists James Taylor, Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand, Amy Winehouse and others have recorded covers of her songs from the album.
She is in both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and also received the National Academy of Songwriters’ Lifetime Achievement Award and the Songwriters Hall of Fame Mercer Award.
King’s appearance with James Taylor at L.A.’s Troubadour in 2007, produced a Grammy-nominated audio and video recording, led to a reunion tour and inspired a feature-length documentary entitled Troubadours: Carole King/James Taylor & The Rise of the Singer-Songwriter.
