American singer-songwriter, Beth Ditto, rose to fame as the lead singer of indie rock band, Gossip. After releasing her debut solo studio album in June 2017, the Arkansas native embarked on her own headline tour, the Beth Ditto World Tour 2018. The Beth Ditto tour kicked off in Little Rock, Arkansas, and entertained audiences in cities across North America and Europe.
Beth Ditto's background
Born Mary Beth Patterson in Judsonia, Arkansas, Beth Ditto moved to Olympia, Washington, in 1999 and formed Gossip. After releasing several hit records with the band, she dropped her debut solo EP, entitled EP, in January 2011. The four-track record garnered critical acclaim and climbed the charts in the U.S., Australia and Europe, peaking at No. 9 on the U.S. Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums and No. 27 on the U.S. Billboard Top Heatseekers Albums charts.
After coming out with the EP track "I Wrote the Book" in March 2011, Beth Ditto released two collaborative singles, teaming up with Blondie on the song, "A Rose by Any Name," and Netsky on the track,"Running Low." The latter topped the Ultratop 50 Singles and Ultratop Dance charts in Belgium following its release in August 2014.
In April 2017, Beth Ditto released the single, "Fire," ahead of her debut solo studio album, Fake Sugar. The album enjoyed international success, peaking at No. 3 on the U.S. Billboard Top Heatseekers Albums and No. 11 on the Swiss Hitparade Albums Top 100 charts. She then performed at the Punta del Este Summer Festival in Uruguay before hitting the road on her headline world tour.
Beth Ditto's biggest hits
Beth Ditto's best-selling single, "I Wrote the Book," charted in several countries, peaking at No. 6 on the Ultratop 50 Singles Flanders and No. 13 on the Ultratop 50 Singles Wallonia charts in Belgium. It also reached No. 19 on both the German Airplay and U.S. Billboard Dance Club Songs charts.
Beth Ditto's personal life
Following high-profile collaborations with British fashion retailer Evans and French fashion designer John Paul Gaultier, Beth Ditto launched her eponymous plus-size fashion line in February 2016. Prior to this, she released a limited edition makeup line in collaboration with MAC Cosmetics.
In addition to launching her own fashion and cosmetics collections, Beth Ditto has released a memoir, entitled Coal to Diamonds: A Memoir, and starred in the American comedy-drama film, Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot.
Beth Ditto became the first woman to top NME's Cool List in November 2006. She also won the International Artist of the Year award at the 2008 Glamour Awards.
