Concept Progressive Metal for 20 YearsBetween the Buried came from Raleigh, N. C., where the group formed in the year 2000. Two years later, the band released their self-titled debut album. The single "Aspirations" from the album produced the band's first music video. Its follow-up album, The Silent Circus, was released a year later and contains the single "Mordecai." The album includes "Selkies: The Endless Obsession," which is one of the band's most notable songs to date. The next year brought The Anatomy Of, which was comprised entirely of covers such as "Colorblind" by Counting Crows, "Blackened" by Metallica, "Us and Them" by Pink Floyd and "Kickstart My Heart" by Mötley Crüe. The album was the first to chart on the Billboard 200, where it peaked at No. 151. In 2007, Colors released and received rave reviews. In fact, Ultimate Guitar named it Album of the Year. "Prequel to the Sequel" is likely the most notable song from Colors and has been featured in Rock Band. The Great Misdirect followed in 2009, which includes popular songs such as "Obfuscation" and "Fossil Genera - A Feed From Cloud Mountain." In 2011, the band had an EP that saw the Billboard 200 again when The Paralax: Hypersleep Dialogues debuted at No. 54. The Paralax II: Future Sequence is the full-length album that came the following year. A continuation of the previous EP, this album peaked at No. 22. 2015's Coma Ecliptic is Between the Buried and Me's highest-charting album to date.
