Built in 1915, the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium is located at the heart of Civic Center Plaza in San Francisco and holds 8,500 people. The auditorium hosted the 1920 Democratic National Convention, the 1948 National AAU boxing trials and the San Francisco Opera from 1923 to 1932. The auditorium has also hosted sports events. It was home of the San Francisco Warriors from 1964 to 1967. In 1991, rock promoter Bill Graham died in a helicopter crash, and the venue was renamed in his honor. The auditorium has hosted a wide variety of events like Barnum & Bailey circuses, dog shows, car shows and wrestling matches. Later, the events shifted to music concerts, showcasing artists from different genres. Musicians including The 1975 and Massive Attack have played here.
