Blaenavon Tickets
Made up of Ben Gregory on vocals, Frank Wright on bass and Harris McMillan on drums, Blaenavon is a British indie band that has an instant, poppy appeal. Founded in 2013, the trio is originally from Hampshire in England, despite the fact that they are named after a Welsh town. The three members of the group came together midway through their secondary school careers. While still schoolboys, the three discovered their musical tastes overlapped somewhat. Soon afterwards, they decided to form a band with one another.
Blaenavon's career milestones
Blaenavon soon progressed from a friendly schoolboy hobby into something more spectacular. Not long after getting together, the group came first in a local talent contest. A cover version of Muse's “Knights of Cydonia” won them the top prize. Not long afterwards, their burgeoning skills led to interest from record company executives. A deal was ultimately signed with Transgressive and the trio set about making their first proper studio recordings.
In 2013, the group released their first EP. Entitled Koso, it was distributed by Transgressive on CD and vinyl, and made available for digital download. At the time, the three members of Blaenavon were still at school, studying for their forthcoming GCSE exams. Over the course of the next two years, the band focused on their education without much time being devoted to the studio. Nevertheless, a series of one-off gigs continued to be booked, despite the band not going on a fully-fledged tour.
After the members of Blaenavon had finished their A levels, they got back into the swing of operating as a band once more. A long-awaited follow-up EP called Miss World came out in October 2015. As a result of the success of this EP on music streaming sites, Blaenavon was being booked for higher and higher profile gigs at the end of 2015 and the early part of 2016. By the summer of 2016, a busy touring schedule was becoming established. Honing their live skills, Blaenavon ended up appearing at a string of festivals in the UK that year, including slots at Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, and Latitude, to name but three.
Following the busy festival period, Blaenavon returned to the studio once more, with new material. They worked under the auspices of Jim Abbiss – well known for his production work with the Arctic Monkeys, Björk and Adele, among others. The result was their debut full-length album for Atlantic, That's Your Lot, which peaked at number 54 in the UK album charts, their most successful release to date.
