The Boardwalk Hall has been providing a home for distinctive special events since its opening in 1929 in Atlantic City. Built in response to an increased convention presence, this convention hall was an innovative work of architecture. Formerly known as the Atlantic City Convention Hall, it was 137 feet high inside, had a barrel vault ceiling and had the largest clear span space in the world. The Boardwalk Hall has hosted the first indoor college football game, the Miss America Pageant and the Democratic National Convention. The hall was a USAF training facility during WWII and had the first indoor helicopter flight in 1970. In 1987, the Boardwalk Hall was declared a National Historic Landmark. Renamed "The Boardwalk Hall," it received an extensive renovation in 2001. This renovation received nine architectural and engineering awards. Artists such as Celine Dion and AFL teams like The Baltimore Brigade are among the contemporary Boardwalk Hall performers. Grab the best tickets for Boardwalk Hall events at StubHub.
